Kindergarten | Early Childhood Education
At Canadian Global School, Kindergarten provides a welcoming, safe, and inspiring environment where every child is encouraged to explore, discover, and learn naturally. As one of the most important stages of human development, early childhood lays the foundations for knowledge, independence, creativity, and the social-emotional skills that will support students throughout their educational journey.
In a bilingual immersion environment in English and Portuguese, children engage in meaningful experiences through play, inquiry, collaborative projects, and challenges that stimulate curiosity and critical thinking. Learning is active and responsive to each child’s developmental pace, strengthening their confidence to interact with and understand the world around them.
At Canadian Global School, we believe children come to school naturally curious and eager to learn. That is why we create experiences that inspire a sense of wonder and a love of discovery, supporting intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development in an integrated way.
The knowledge, skills, and attitudes developed during Kindergarten provide a strong foundation for the next stages of the educational journey, helping students become confident, inquisitive, and prepared for the challenges of the future.
Literacy instruction begins in Portuguese, respecting the home language of most of our students. The process begins in Senior Kindergarten (age 5), when children develop the foundational skills needed for reading and writing.
Formal literacy instruction in English begins in Grade 2, when students already have a strong foundation in oral communication and are ready to advance their reading and writing skills in English.
From the earliest years, students experience genuine immersion in English, using the language naturally throughout their school day. Just as children learn Portuguese at home, they develop English through meaningful everyday interactions, gradually becoming confident communicators in both languages.
Research shows that early exposure to more than one language supports not only language development but also cognitive development. Bilingual children can develop greater mental flexibility, concentration, memory, creativity, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
More than developing bilingual students, Canadian Global School develops global citizens, prepared to understand different cultures, communicate with the world, and build a future filled with possibilities.
